Texas is a sun state. Consequently, many homeowners are realizing the tremendous benefits that solar energy provides.
Are you considering solar products for your home? If so, feel free to give us a call. We have a profound knowledge of solar technologies and are constantly staying abreast to the latest strategies for home use.
We collaborate with proven solar product manufacturers who are committed to the industry and who are known for ethical business practices.
Decades ago, solar panels were expensive ventures that only made sense for large corporations. Now solar panels are everywhere and the technology has improved immensely. Although the solar panels we install all come with a 25 year manufacturer’s warranty, their useful life should easily extend out to 50 plus years, based on data we have tracked from NASA and other qualified sources. Most estimates show that they retain 90+% of their generating capacity even after 25 years in service. The current types: monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and thin-film each have properties that are advantageous for various setups. We’d love to walk you through them.
Now through 2016, there is a substantial 30% tax credit offered for customers who install solar panels to their home. We offer a lifetime guarantee on all solar projects, so now is the best time to have a consultant come and discuss the advantages to living with a minimal carbon footprint.
While other home improvements may increase the value of your home, solar improvements not only increase a home’s value but also give the homeowner a return on their investment.
Furthermore, the resale appeal of a solar home is much greater than a traditional one. And why not? The choice between homes that produce free energy versus those that produce monthly electrical bills is a no brainer!
Solar Attic Fans
Costing nothing to function and virtually maintenance-less, solar fans are quickly becoming a Texas favorite. These versatile solar units protect homes from excessive heat and moisture.
Benefits of Solar Attic Fans
- Properly sized fans can reduce the temperature in the attic by up to 50 degrees, much higher than their traditional counter parts.
- In Texas, Attics can reach temperatures in excess of 160 degrees. This trapped head can seep into the home, causing the A/C to run longer and work harder. An “active” ventilation system will create significantly higher air flow than their “passive” counter parts will. (I.E. Ridge vents or wind driven turbines.)
- An A/C unit that doesn’t work as hard as an identical counterpart should last longer, require less maintenance, and produce lower electrical bills.
- Attic fans can reduce the moisture levels allowed to collect in an attic. High moisture levels can cause extensive damage to the roofs support structure, as well as mold and mildew. By drawing out moisture and replacing it with dryer air, the solar fan reduces the risk of damage to your home.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long should it take for me to break even on my investment in solar energy?
Your break even period should be between 5 to 7 years, when the 30% federal tax credit is factored in. Without the tax credit break even should occur at the 7 to 10 year mark.
What about storms and hail damage?
Our part of the country is known for producing vicious storms, some producing high winds and large hail. To date, we have never had to replace a solar panel due to storm damage. When mounted properly, they stand up to high winds, and our experience shows that hail has had no effect on the panels we have installed.
If storm or tornado damage were to occur, your homeowners policy should cover replacement of damaged panels. You should ask your insurance agent to check your coverage and confirm that you have the necessary riders.
How long does the installation take?
Normally, we can install 5 KW (20 panels) to 6 KW (24 panels) per day. Most systems tend to be from 6 KW to 30 KW.
